Pempek Palembang


Pempek was known as a special food from Palembang city, Indonesia. It was made from fish and flour mostly. There are many different of pempek. The biggest one is called "pempek kapal selam" which literally translates to "submarine-shaped pempek". A pempek kapal selam will always have one boiled egg inside it, which explains its larger size in relation to other types of pempek which are either long or rounded. And then, there is pempek lenjer. Itsshape is oval. And then, there are also pempek lenggang, pempek keriting etc. Different kind of pempek taste similar to others, they just came in different shapes and didn't contain boiled eggs.

Pempek is eaten together with a dark sauce called cuka or cuko (in Palembang language). Cuko is produced from adding brown sugar, chili pepper, garlic, vinegar, and salt into hot boiling water.

If you want to eat Pempek Palembang, you can find it in most city in Indonesia. Because even Pempek comes from Palembang, it has been be a favourite food of Indonesian people. Let't taste it! A Dream Food, Pempek Palembang!
